If you read "Hacked" then you know that on November 29, 2002 my fbsd box was hacked. Securing the box and trying to figure out how they got in turned into an all-nighter. After a few hours of sleep I decided to find out who my visitor was. This is an email that I sent to several friends describing my prusuit of bboyice. While bboyice was clever enough to break in, he didn't do a very good job of covering his tracks. To say that he left a trail of bread crumbs leading to him would be an huge understatement. It was more like a one-way highway from Texas to Italy in 15 minutes.

Registered to someone in Italy! Is Rome on the rise and I've missed that memo? I have no idea who this can be. Then it gets weird.

Apparently Rome is on the rise. I decided to google bboyice and found this:

http://spazioinwind.libero.it/bboyice/

This page is signed BbOyIcE just like the person who broke into my site. Babblefish.com translates that page into this:

All of the material restored in this site, is texts than files I am at pure informative purpose and educational. THE authors of this site and the Webmaster do not retain themselves responsible of the damages that you will be able to provoke persons animals or does for the illicit use of the material restored in the above mentioned site.

The Team of the N and w T h or u g h t a good proseguimento in the site wishes yourselves and a good one "exploration" of the material. (Good Fatene use!!)

Not much there, but at least I might know where he lives. I'm also guessing that he's part of some rouge group called New Thought Crew. I continue to search and I find several other references to bboyice. This one is interesting:

Federico Paper/email: bboyice@tin.it
Acquaintance of systems LINUX and WINDOWS !
Acquaintance language C (PANTS for Linux), VB6, Delphy and Kylix.
Much fan of emergency in computer science nets and data transmissions.
For info contacting: bboyice@tin.it .

I've also find out that, and assuming it's the same guy, he visits two irc channels; #shellboxes and #hack probably using irc.piccinet.it or another server in that irc network. There is also a tutorial (naturally it's written in Italian) on how-to hack which appears to send some kind of acknowledgement or greeting to BbOyIcE.

He was also using From: "BbOyIcE" < bboyice@katamail.com > in October of 2001. I'm guessing from this email that he's a CS major.
